Pinewood Derby

First off, a huge thank you to everyone who participated in the Pinewood Derby last night! The excitement, creativity, and competitive spirit made for an unforgettable event. With our new gym setup, the races ran smoothly, and I think we’ll continue hosting the derby there in the future.

A special shout-out to our dedicated leaders who helped make this event possible—whether it was Thursday night setup, Friday preparations, or support during the race itself. Your time and effort mean so much! Additionally, a big thank you to Ed Iglesias for once again providing the car garage stands and for designing the awesome winner’s trophies! Thank you also to the Troop 904 Scouts that helped us out with the pizza sales and snacks last night.

Our affiliate Scouting America Troop 904 is holding their annual Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM at Buckley Hall Gym. This fundraiser is critical to their success, and our Pack’s support makes a big difference!

Owasippe Summer Camp – RSVP ASAP!

Action Required: If you’re considering attending Cub Scout Camp at Owasippe (July 27–30, 2025), please email me ASAP!

Camp is an amazing experience—just ask anyone who has attended before! Scouts will enjoy:  Campfires & marshmallow roasting,  Archery,  BB guns,  slingshots,  Swimming,  Fishing,  Canoeing & rowing adventures,  Hiking & nature learning,  Crafts,  Stem,  Songs, and   Fun with friends!

Location: Camp Wolverine, Owasippe Scout Reservation (Grand Rapids, MI) 

Costs:

• Early Bird Pricing (Before June 15): $200 per scout, $120 per adult

• After June 15: Prices increase by $15 per person

Travel: 127 miles (~4-hour drive from Chicago)

Important Details:

• Scouts must attend with their parent/legal guardian.

• No non-scout siblings are allowed (except older Boy Scouts who want to attend as Den Chiefs).

• Camp has tents available, but bringing your own tent is recommended!

• Payment is due at the time of sign-up. 

• 1st through 5th grade only, no scouts going into Kindergarten in Fall 2025

• If you have a non-scout younger or older child and would like to go camping, there is a family camp at Owasippe called Camp Reneker. That would be separate from what we are doing and would have its own activities and schedule.

Adult Requirements: If you plan to attend, you must complete the following before camp:

Current Youth Protection Training
Criminal Background Check (Required by Michigan law)
Michigan Central Registry Clearance (May take weeks—submit early!)
Michigan Youth Protection Agreement
Medical Forms (For adults & scouts)
